Ed, Ken, Stelios,
Thanks for the suggestions. I now have a working system. Why it works is
a whole different question. What I did that started things working was
to run "alsamixer -c 0" (Note alsamixer with no switches did nothing
interesting - just pointed to Pulse Audio).
Question, what is IEC958? alsamixer displayed a lot of that.
Question, what is the difference between "Analog Source mic" and "Analog
In the alsamixer display I moved to the <Shared M> entry and used the
up-arrow key to change it to MicIn. Now things worked, but what did I
do? Note that the Soundblaster card has only one input for both Line In
and Microphone In. I am using a microphone until I get my rig interface
I really don't like being a "monkey at the keyboard" and just trying
everything until something works. Can someone explain what I did and why
it worked. Also what is the relationship between Pulse Audio and Alsa?
Why did my changes with the Pulse Audio Volume control do nothing?
Now on to working on my rig interface!
Thanks again for the suggestions.
