Did anyone else watch the CMT tonite "Elvis Viva Las Vegas?"
It was a re-run, as it saw it the first time it aired, but it was a
feel-good type show, interviewing Priscilla (who was surprisingly
candid), some of the guys, Nancy Sinatra, and showed 70's Vegas show
clips, along with some other clips of Elvis. It showed Kathy twice,
making the long walk to the stage with Elvis. They could have done
without the performances of other entertainers doing Elvis songs,
especially when noone could ever match the way he sang his songs. It
always makes me feel melancholy and sentimental seeing Elvis &
remembering the "good" years when he was a part of our lives.
As for Vegas, just as Pricilla said, she never imagined it would come
to this! I was just there a week ago, and bit by bit they are
destroying every landmark hotel and replacing them with bigger, more
expensive Disneyland-type monstrosities. The Vegas as our generation
knew it, died right along with Elvis.
