Hi y-all, 1. Thanks to the member who sent me the thoughtful flame on not being a team player. 2. I any-one read my first post you found that I said and IMessage 1 of 2 , Feb 28, 2001View SourceHi y-all,
1. Thanks to the member who sent me the thoughtful flame
on not being a team player.
2. I any-one read my first post you found that I said and I quote
"The idea presented via e-mail to build a extensive packet
network is not a bad one. However, given the very little use
of our own packet bbs and DX cluster would it be utilized?
Even our 2 meter 147.060 machine and the link system for that
matter are used very little.
I do not have a problem with setting up a backbone but I
do not think that the HARC should foot the bill for each node or
accept total responsbility for the system. I can see us setting the
wheels in motion to get other clubs to tap into such a network
supplying their own transcievers, antennas etc. etc. which is the
way the system used to be in the past...several nodes sponsored
by other clubs and/or individuals. This should be a multi club
project with costs/operation/maintenance shared by all who
operate their nodes."
This was in response to the original idea posted by Bob.
I did have a problem with the protocall, and funds solicitation...but that
appears to be resolved.
3. I think that the club should concentrate its efforts in getting
more people to do more things. There is a serious lack of participation
among us especially when it comes to public service events. Too often
no one has the time or the will to participate in Tulip Time, the MS-150
to name a couple. There seems to be a prevailing sense that "someone else
will do it" The same goes for serving as a club officer. I have been an
officer in the club going on 6 years. I was reluctantly re-elected to
treasurer again because NOBODY would step forward to run as such.
.It is like pulling teeth to get any-one to consider it. Frankly, I am
tired of being an officer. I have noticed over the years that several
PAST members that were officers have dissappeared from the HAM radio
scene. These were people that used to be on the air alot!
4. In that vein, I think it is time for me to retire... I am tired of being an officer
and more than discouraged with the participation problem as it exists. So I
am going to resign from the treasurers post effective now. I no longer have the
motivation to do it. I will be bringing to Bob the checkbook, roster, and other
associated items within the week
It is time for someone else to do it.

I was up at 4:30 or so and heard several of ya on the 06 as I was checking the situation out. Our great friends, Lake Michigan, cold waters really did a good job last night too keeping the nasties at bay!
