Personally, Sot-Weed Factor is my favorite,
but it could be that this book is more interesting to someone from the
West. Chimera is more universal (at least I assume Greek Mythology is more
universal than American Colonial life), and since you enjoy that one so much I
would say to start there...

Subject: [johnbarth] Hails From An
Iranian Barth Fan
I am Mehdy from Iran, I have M.A. in English Literature and I have
already translated Vonnegut's last novel, Timequake into Persian. I came
to know Barth a few years ago, but I couldn't find his novel until last year.
I have read Floating Opera, End of the Road, Giles Goat Boy, and Lost in
Funhouse. Right now I am reading Chimera which is one of the best books I have
come across. Unfortunately nothing by Barth has ever been translated to
Persian and most of elite Iranians do not know him, but I intend to break the
ice and let my country mate know what a genius John Barth is. Any
recommendations for what I translate first?
