INDIA'S CONSUL GENERAL TO ADDRESS VISA PROBLEMS IN LOS ANGELES
Ambassador Susmita Thomas, Consul General of India, San Francisco, has agreed to outreach the Indian community in Southern California and address issues regarding consular services such as visa for India, OCI/PIO card, surrender of Indian Passport, relinquishing of Indian citizenship, etc. She and members of her staff will also answer questions from the audience relevant to consular services.
Members of the Indian community in Southern California are encouraged to come and get answers to their questions directly from the Consul General and her staff. If anyone has not received a satisfactory response from the Consulate, it will be high time to attend the Consul General's outreach program and talk in person.
The details of the outreach program are as follows:
Date: Saturday, November 13, 2010
Time 2:00 PM
Place: United Methodist Church (Backside of Bhindi Plaza)
18523 Arline Ave (Corner of Arline Ave and 186th Street)
Artesia, CA 90701
The Church has been used numerous times for Visa camp in the past.
The Consul General's outreach program for the members of the Indian community in Southern California is a welcome step towards streamlining relations with the community.
In May, 2010 Government of India introduced some security measures which resulted in hardships to the community in obtaining visa for India. Some of the rules have been relaxed and grant of visa by the Consulate has also become reasonably easier. The purpose of the outreach program is to brief the community about the changes and new requirements in the grant of various types of visas while following the limitation imposed by Government of India. She also would invite suggestions to further improve consular services.
