This year we had deaths attributable to vaccines, measles immunisation was stopped and then when resumed children are being immunised only at PHC. [The truth/findings of the fact finding teams into the deaths was not made public... was it TSS? Teams from NICD VISTED THE PLACE...no outcomes yet to restore faith of people.]..IT IS HIGH TIME .... MEASLES OUTBREAKS ARE EXPECTED.Similar events in past (fears about oral polio vaccine safetly) derailed the polio eradication drive in africa and other regions.Pertussis safety concerns in the 1980s led to decline in 1970s led to decline in vaccine coverage from 80% to 30% in England and Wales ( Nature reviews immunlogogy :1: 160; 185 ( 1 nov 2001) [Cited at rational vaccinepolicy homepage http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/rationalvaccinepolicy/]There is no question of international agencies having vicarious responsibility for this unforseen event (deaths). Hovewer, GAVI and allied agencies still seem to be colluding with manufacturers to push new vaccines in this scenario of low vaccine supply crisis for DPT in India. But the central govt health minister definitely should have the vicarious liability for DPT shortage and stockout crisis after the closure of PUBLIC vaccine production institutes IN INDIA.

60% Drop in measles immunisation.
What are the reasons - is it lack of supplies, competing priorities for the ANM or something else?
With the 60% drop in Immunisation - should not the necessary UNICEF, WHO, DfID, Government officials take responsibility and resign
