The Puerto Rican political prisoners, Oscar Lpez Rivera, Carlos Alberto
Torres, Haydee Beltrn Torres, and Jos Prez Gonzlez, are serving
sentences from five years to life in prison for their uncompromising
participation in and support for the fight to free Puerto Rico from U.S.
colonial rule. Puerto Rico is a colony, its economy and government under the
direct control of the U.S. The U.S. government has a long history of
targeting supporters of Puerto Rican independence, including the use of the
FBI and other political police on the island. This forum will be an
opportunity to discuss why support for independence for Puerto Rico is in
the interests of all working people in the U.S.
