I sent this yesterday, but it hasn't appeared, so I am trying again. Apologies if others have received it already:
What started out as a couple of blog posts on a book about Thomas that I think presents some problematic perspectives has snowballed. GTh readers would be very welcome to get involved.
A note about the Euangelion blog and Mike Bird. Euangelion has two authors – Mike and Joel Willits. Both are Evangelicals, but they function rather differently. While I frequently disagree with Mike’s conclusions about things, I find him to be a quite careful scholar with an openness to other people having different understandings about Christianity that I don’t often find amongst our local Evangelicals. The book that he wrote with James Crossley “How did Christianity Begin? A believer and an non-believer examine the evidence” demonstrates this. I think you’re right, though, about him not considering Thomas as part of the gospel he and Joel wish to promote. ☺
