Despite dire weather forecasts, Open House, the triathlon and competing rides, a select multitude of five villeins assembled at Blackheath to descend on London. The five made it to London Bridge and crossed the river at Hungerford Bridge to the site of John of Gaunt's Savoy Palace, and a very welcome lunch in the warmth. We left the Savoy unburnt and braved steadily heavier rain to reach Smithfield, there to be greeted by the vicar of St Barts and a very cheerful pavement dweller. The latter clearly enjoyed the account of Wat Tyler's end as we all huddled for shelter. Then it was sauve qui peut as we raced through the downpour to London Bridge and homed to our various dry sanctuaries.
Thanks to Jane, Robbie, Anthony and John for their endurance of the wet and the talks.
