The Royal Borough of Greenwich’s Transportation Team will be resurfacing Woolwich Road from Anchor and Hope Lane to Warfspite roundabout (eastbound) and from Warfspite roundabout to Westmoor Street (westbound) in September 2013.
As part of the works we have carried out a review the road markings to ensure that they comply with latest legislation and guidance.
We have also taken this opportunity to review the cycle facilities along the road and there are a number of changes proposed including:
· Increasing the width of the mandatory cycle lane to 2.0m
· Providing additional cycle symbols at key points
· Extending the green surfacing wherever possible (i.e. through zig-zag markings)
A review of the cycle signage along this section of Woolwich Road is also currently underway.
Please see the attached design drawing which shows the proposed road markings and cycle facilities. The drawing also shows the planned areas of anti-skid surfacing.
Please note that the planned changes will not have a negative impact on traffic capacity on Woolwich Road.
I would appreciate it if you could come back to me with any comments that you may have by 22nd July 2013.
If you have any queries, or wish to discuss any aspect of these works, please do not hesitate to contact me.
