The type of transparent color selection depends on how many colors the
image you are setting the transparent color for has. If it is a
palette-based image with less than 256 colors, your only choices will be
those colors. For all other images, you will be shown the standard
Windows color selection dialog allowing any color to be selected by RGB
If you want a common origin and scale when printing, use Ctrl+Home to
center on the same coordinates before printing each time, then choose
the Print to Scale option and print to the same scale each time.

I think I was changing the projection in the middle of adding a GCP
point, where only one of the two needed clicks had occurred when i got
the way-goofy mapping.
Did I lose the ability to pick a color by adding my own RGB values,
or did I never have it? The one I need to make transparent is not
listed on the choices, nor do I see a way to add it to the list of
I don't have a GPS unit, but this makes me want to get one!
Is there a way to force a common origin and scale when I export a
group of layers that I have rectified? otherwise, I seem to be unable
put out layers that stay registered when i print them one by one, at
least when I convert them to PDF/s...
