Hi Ms. Boizelle,
Thank you for your email. I have not researched the Stocks family. Some 20th century Stocks have married into branches of my French family, but I have not traced them back.
Are you familiar with the Pitt County Researchers? If not, they are an incredible group of researchers who have done an amazing job of finding info about Pitt County since the Courthouse was burned in the 1850s. I know I have recently seen the Stocks family name discussed on their mailing list. I will copy Roger Kammerer who is the president of the group and Jewelle Baker who is also involved. I am sure that they can point you in the right direction.
I will add you to our email update list so that you will know about the progress of our group.
All the Best,
The Family History Society of Eastern North Carolina

I am very much interested in the Stocks family in Pitt County, N.C. in the early 1700s. There were brother, Isaac and John, that I know of, who were large land owners with large families. Isaac, born around 1720, give or take 10 years, had among his sons, one named Isaac, who fought in the Revolutionary War, and moved to
Greene County, Georgia where he married Catherine Heard, daughter of one of his superior officers. It is believed he may have been married previously in Craven, North Carolina ( or thereabouts) and had a son, Hillary (spelling??) Stocks, born about 1756 or so. Hillarys son, Guilford, brother of Wylie, Wright and Reddin, along with some girls whose names remain unknown, was born around 1810. They all ended up living close to Isaac in Georgia, and Guilford, after marrying in Alabama, moved and settled in Mississippi.
Any information anyone has on this family would be greatly appreciated. We know the family was in Pitt County early. I believe that Hillary might have been born in Craven. He shows up signing on a land deed which transfers land from Isaac Sr, but his relationship is unspecified.
This is one of THE missing links in our lineage.
Thank you so much for any help you can give
