Here is a progress report on the introduction of PHEV's at dealerships:
Another important development might be the story of the Bloom Energy new low cost Silicon Oxide fuel cell. It is designed to convert natural gas into electricity, but without a reformer to extract the H2 from the CH4, you could feed it pure H2 and O2 and have a practical electric car. One more development is the storage of H2 in Borax compounds, literally storing the gas in a solid. That might solve the safety issues with hydrogen and make it truly the fuel of the future. The beauty of H2 is the ability of anyone to make it from water and electricity and to have a pollution free system for transportation.
