Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Plot Outline: Buttoned up Harold and laidback Kumar are stoners who want to get
food at a White Castle Burgers joint, which becomes a perilous journey full of
********* I thought 'Dude where's my car' was the most stupid film I had ever
seen but this one is definitely higher on the scale. This movie had the most
inane plot, the most ridiculous situations, the most stupid characters, the
idiotic dialogues and the biggest case of RPP (Ridiculous Product Placement)
I've seen since those FedEx logos were popping left and right in "Cast away".
I sure hope they got a lot of free burger coupons for that. The name of the
restaurant must be mentioned 100 times during the film. Besides, nobody in
their right mind would go through one tenth of what they do for a bunch of
stupid lukewarm hamburgers, I mean come on, talk about suspension of belief
(or disbelief) There's 100 restaurants nearby that serve the same crap, so why
go through Hell and Back for those particular ones ... maybe if it had been
Filet Mignon, geesh !
My final rating : 1.5/5 ... why a '1.5' and not a '0' ... well, I was still
amused in part by the wacky guy's antics (even if it was so DUMB !!!) , and
that's the point of a comedy, even a bad one, to make you laugh. I can
compare the film to 'Anchorman' I saw recently, same situation, both are awful
films, very poor material, you watch this and your brain turns to mashed rice,
but the difference is I laughed a lot more often while watching H&K then I did
watching Ron Burgundy's overracting.
Oh, I didn't talk about the special effects, it looked like footage from the
early 80's, with actors being in front of a projection screen in part ... not
to mention the awful animatronics as well, that raccoon and the cheetah too.
I hope the cast and crew were hiding their faces at the premiere, unless they
sneaked out early of course.
I was expecting this to be better, I was reading some rather good reviews just
now too ... also I didn't like how they kept promoting drug use in the movie,
how is that funny now ?? It was funny 20 years ago watching those 'Cheech and
Chong' films, but at least they had 'Some Talent'. Here, they kept hammering it
over and over and over, and the stupid 'babe' jokes were lame as well ... Ok,
it's funny the first 5 times, but not the 50th !
I would have liked seeing TAKERU KOBAYASHI ("The Tsunami") though near the end
when they finally make it to the crappy restaurant, only 'The Tsunami' could
have finished that gigantic order of hamburgers and not the 2 'amateur night'
"The alarm went off, okay. When an alarm goes off,
you got an average of four minutes response time.
Unless a patrol car is cruising that street, at
that particular moment, you got four minutes before
they can realistically respond !! In one minute
there were seventeen blue boys out there !! All loaded
for bear, all knowing exactly what the f*ck they were
doing, and they were all just there !! Remember that second
wave that showed up in the cars ?? Those were the ones
responding to the alarm - but those other motherf*ckers
were already there !! THEY WERE WAITING FOR US !!"

I know that, and I also know that if I'm careful to keep
