Sorry to hear about Winston. It is important to remember that once
a cat experiences congestive heart failure, they are always considered
CHF kitties, unless there is some reversal of heart disease. A recurrence
of fluid is usually referred to as decompensation.
Many kitties do well with smaller doses of lasix throughout the day rather
than one large dose once a day. The effects of lasix in kitties last only 6-8 hours.
My cat went in and out of episodes for 6 months. Sometimes she went through
periods that were better than others. Once she was stabilized on a particular
dose of lasix these were adjusted as needed based on her respirations. Eventually
we went to 3x/day lasix.
