Excure my rant... but this vet is an idiot!! Of course there is
something they can do. He can give her medications if it is indeed
a clot. Her kitty needs to be on some kind of clot dissolving
medication (Heparin is the usual one they give at first)... then
baby aspirin, small dose every few days. There are heart meds that
they might put him on too.
She needs to get him to a cardiologist ASAP. You don't want to mess
around with this. Doing nothing with a cat who has thrown a clot is
just so wrong!!!
Please tell her to try to see another vet as soon as she can.
If she can't get to a vet, if it was me... then I would start him on
Nattokinase. It will help dissolve the clot and help prevent new
ones from forming. You need a Nattokinase that has NO Vitamin K in
it. We use NattoZyme by Nutricology. Doctor's Best is a good one
NattoZyme by Nutricology and Doctor's Best nattokinase
are two that have the Vit K removed.
I hope he's going to be okay.
Sending good thoughts,
Carol and Snowball and the gang
Hi I thoroughly agree with Carol! If it is a thrombosis, then immediate heparin/painkiller can be given. Also massage may help. If the kitty is in pain, thenMessage 1 of 3 , Jan 1, 2009View SourceHi
I thoroughly agree with Carol! If it is a thrombosis, then immediate
heparin/painkiller can be given. Also massage may help. If the kitty is in pain,
then pain control is most important. To say nothing can be done could mean the
cat could be suffering.
It is possible it is a mini stroke as well. That would need investigating
and cats recover well. Blood pressure would need to be checked and something to
dissolve the clot.
If the cat is on insulin, it is even more important to get to a vet. I would
choose a different vet and go NOW. She may be entering a diabetic crash and
need urgent treatment. That could cause confusion and instability as well.
In other words, vet now.. and without delay. But not one who couldn't treat
