Welcome to you and Pharo! You are definitely not alone! We are here to help you and we have all been where you are. I know it feels like your world just collapsed. But it didn't and you must stay strong, Pharo needs you now! You are doing a good thing by getting a second opinion because Pharo should be on more meds than just lasix for his heart, as Sue has already wrote to you about. The lasix will help the fluids in his lungs but it won't help his heart. You need meds exclusively for the heart. The next cardiologist should be able to explain this to you. Sometimes, the ER vets just stabilize until you can get your kitty to the regular specialist and that may have been what they did for Pharo.
There are many kitties in this group that have been diagnosed early in life and are still hanging in there and are happy! The most important thing now is to keep Pharo as healthy and happy as possible. Sue already mentioned supplements and I second that idea! Just let us know if you want more supplement info.
Pharo will be tired right now. That is OK for now but watch him carefully and take note of any changes in eating or breathing patterns and inform your vet/cardiologist. The vets almost always say that the prognosis is poor, but we always hope for better. There are many kitties in this group that were given that same prognosis years ago! We hope to have Pharo be one of those kitties. So for now, relax, breathe and love Pharo up! He needs it and you!
Please ask any and all questions that you may have even if you think it isn't heart related because it often is! Welcome, again, to you two!
