MUSICAL DIVORCE ALBUMS
Dylan, Springsteen, Buckner- a well-trod theory is that suffering helps to
produce great art. When it comes to divorce, there have definitely been
enough pop albums to support this. Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, Bruce
Springsteen's Tunnel of Love and Richard Buckner's Devotion and Time are
three prime examples, studied here in detail.
Dreaming of a Black Xmas- even though her big splash at the Monterey Pop
Festival was a flop, she went on to be one of the most covered songwriters
of the last 60's. Even so, her own career never matched the rep of her
song catalog. Joni Mitchell had the heart to toast this Bronx girl's work
so why shouldn't we?
We're always looking for good writers and/or ideas so let us know if you
have anything to share.
See you online,
