I found out about Fast 5 from a low carb support forum, then from Fast
5 I found this group.
That's basically how I found it too
I started IFing last week and just jumped right in.
Me too. there's something about low carbing before starting Fast 5 that i think makes it easier to start. that's only my opinion though.
It's been going very well other than a cheat on the weekend when I was
good for you!
I think I will be very strict fasting until 5pm and be a little more
lax on the amount of carbs I take in.
That's how I find it works best for me. I've low carbed and controlled carbed (CAD) for years very successfully. Then 2 years ago I took really ill. I had to give up work etc. I found that stuck in the house, often bedbound and not up to cooking much, I started eating all the wrong things and of course piled on the weight.
I went back to low carbing and found the weight wasn't really shifting and of course not being able to excercise at all didn't help. In January I found Fast 5 and I've been on it and playing around with it ever since. I've had a few lapses where I've come off it for a couple of days but I've actually felt a lot worse besides putting on weight so I reckon I'll be Fast 5ing for ever.
Purely Fast 5ing isn't enough for me to lose weight. I have serious carb issues especially with wheat. I eat a sandwich or a pizza and (even with a low calorie total) I'll put on at least 2 pounds the next day - and of course I'm addicted to it :-). However I don't count carbs any more and I probably eat more than I used to. I eat more fruit, nuts, dark chocolate, gluten free cookies etc. If I stop losing weight or start to put it on, I just cut back the carbs for a day or two and that always kickstarts it.
I think it was Eades who reckoned that intermittent fasting and low carbing was the gold standard of weight reduction but his IF was a lot more brutal than Fast 5
I'm still experimenting. I love Fast 5 because I never feel like I'm dieting. I really feel like it is just a way of life. I've lost over 23 pounds since January and would like to lose about the same again. Now considering that's been done with absolutely no excercise and that before I started I was gaining weight whatever I did, I'm really pleased with it.
I look forward to hearing how you get on
