New e-commerce platform OfferMe.com.au is set to launch some time in
August. The start up company is running a YouTube video competition in
conjunction with their launch giving YouTubers the chance to win
$10,000. (You must 'sell out' to receive money.)
The competition is simple; upload any video to YouTube. It must have
the companies URL www.offerme.com.au showing on the screen at all
times. Then all you have to do is get the views. On the competition
page they show the top ten ranking videos. So if you are falling
behind in views, you know you have to boost the traffic to your video.
Smart or conniving? Well, I'm not sure. Although I have to give it to
them, it is a smart move to have the competition run by its
participants. The majority of YouTubers and bloggers in general
despise advertising anything unless it's something they are doing off
their own bat.
So will we be seeing our favourite bloggers adorning the new
e-commerce platforms URL on their next YouTube upload? Will the
YouTubers adopt or reject the new concept and give in to advertising
to win the green? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
