Episode Name:She's Mine
Summary:Harvey and Stephen clash over Ava's case; Harvey and Jessica strategize; Louis gets Rachel's help with a broken contract.
We'd see cuts of a pre-partner Jessica (Gina Torres) mentoring a young Harvey (Gabriel Macht) back when she was in a position very similar to that of the Specter we've become acquainted with in the present day. Meanwhile, Mike (Patrick J. Adams) took a trip back in time as well, to a day when Trevor (Tom Lipinski) foiled him as a character oh so well. Most importantly, we finally got some spicy insight into the awesome dynamic we've come to obsess over regarding, of course, Harvey's relationship with Donna (Sarah Rafferty). Break out the whipped cream! Here is my Recap and Review of Suits Season 3 Episode 6, "The Other Time"!
Here's what; I'm assuming most readers of this recap are fans of the show who've viewed the episode prior. Otherwise, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you've missed Episode 6 and simply want a concise explanation to get you caught up. I'm mostly going to divide this review between the flashback and the present goings on at Pearson Darby Specter. Oh, did I fail to mention in the introduction of the recap that Harvey's name did indeed go up on the wall this week?
Cameron (Gary Cole), in a last-ditch effort to win at all costs, concocted one final harebrain scheme to defeat Harvey in his fight to free Ava Hessington of murder charges. After Mike had done some simple digging, it became clear that Cameron had one last witness smuggled away somewhere in the area. What would make this specific witness different? Allegedly, Cameron had managed to wrangle in the colonel who'd been caught on tape accepting a bribe from Ava. If the man would confess to taking money under orders to kill witnesses in the way, Ava would most certainly serve time.
Knowing Ava to be innocent having had the opportunity to get to know his client, Harvey called Cameron on his bluff. The colonel wouldn't take the stand against Ava because she'd never truly offered him money to murder innocent people for a mere oil pipeline. Still, Cameron refused to budge, and countless booked hotel rooms in the Manhattan area kept this final witness adequately concealed.
Meanwhile, Harvey's work relationship with his secretarial sidekick, Donna, seemed to be growing ever more strained. Donna, caught entirely off guard by the addition of Harvey's name to the firm wall in the elevator bank, ran straight to her boss surrounding her newfound discovery. Harvey, disappointed, reminded Donna that he'd never needed to inform Donna of anything before. She'd always simply known. Again, keep in mind that flashback sequences, scenes that I'll cover in a bit, were intertwined with some of these current issues to give some insight and clarity. Let's just say, Donna has been analyzing Harvey like no other for a while now. Harvey was, of course, growing more and more peeved by Donna's focus on Stephen (Max Beesley), who'd on the episode prior nearly caused Harvey his case. Stephen, on the other hand, seemed to be itching to make amends with Harvey, trying throughout the entirety of Episode 6 to make a reconnection and right his wrongs. Eventually, he'd go to Mike on the street, offering his two cents regarding Cameron's current upper hand. Having secured the ultimate witness, Cameron offered Ava a deal of several years' worth of incarceration with a chance for parole.
