Apply Now to Become an Urban Public School Principal
Application Deadline is March 1, 2006!
Great schools are led by great principals. New Leaders for New Schools
is a national non-profit organization with one clear mission: promoting
high academic achievement for every child by attracting, preparing, and
supporting the next generation of outstanding leaders for our nation's
urban public schools.
Now in our fifth year, 230 New Leaders serve over 100,000 students in
six locations - California's Bay Area, Baltimore, Chicago, Memphis, New
York City, and Washington, DC. Though united by common values, our New
Leaders are outstanding and diverse in every respect - ranging in age
from mid-20s to mid-50s, with nearly two-thirds who are people of color.
We continuously recruit and select current and former educators who
* Unwavering focus and relentless drive to bring our community's
core beliefs into practice-most importantly, an unyielding belief in the
potential of all children to achieve at high academic levels,
* Instructional expertise in a K-12 classroom,
* Exceptional leadership skills, and
* The capacity to define a vision, build teams that get results,
and achieve despite tremendous obstacles.
Our program includes a year-long full-time residency with a mentor
principal in an urban school and three years of intensive one-on-one
coaching from a successful veteran principal. For more information,
