The K12 Search Group has recently partnered with Mastery Charter Schools to recruit Apprentice School Leaders to join their school leadership teams.
Mastery Charter Schools is a growing, Philadelphia based network of charter elementary, middle and high schools that serve predominantly minority, low income students. Mastery's mission is to prepare students with the academic and personal skills needed to succeed in higher education, to compete in the global economy, and to pursue their dreams. Mastery's first school, the Lenfest Campus in Center City, was founded in September 2001. Today, Mastery operates fourteen schools, serving 8,000 students. Looking forward, Mastery intends to open three to four schools a year, ultimately doubling the number of students enrolled in their Philadelphia schools. Mastery is also exploring expansion into several additional cities.
Mastery has developed the Apprentice School Leader (ASL) role to develop leaders of future Mastery Charter Schools. It is designed to prepare extraordinary teachers to become extraordinary school leaders who drive break-through student results. While teaching a reduced load, the ASL will develop instructional coaching, supervision, and evaluation skills and provide support to teachers in their classrooms. As a member of the school leadership team, the ASL will develop planning and organizational skills and be responsible for planning school academic and culture interventions.
