We have a contest at Centerfield Church called "Money Wars" How this works is it's a battle of the sexes. If one side loses, they get to fix chili.
The theme of "Money Wars" is for a mission. Coins count as positive points. Currency and checks count as negative points. Two locked boxes are set out for male and female members of the church. The object is to accumulate more coins than dollar bills and checks. If the box contains coins, checks and currency. The coins are counted first and checks and currency are subtracted from the coins. Therefore if a box contains $500 and half of it is in currency and checks. The point value would be zero. Each penny counts as one point.

Subject: [DUTCH OVEN COOKING] church DOG chili
My church had a chili contest last year. It was the
first one and it was a big hit. They served over 400.
Not bad for the first year. Part of the judging was
the theme of their set-up. Some went with the cowboy
theme and one was set up like a deer hunting camp. Not
everyone used dutchovens but there were a few that
did. The public could go around the booths and taste
the chili and vote on them. Then they served a chili
dinner from the kitchen. They had a little wagon set
up with non-alchoholic margauritas. It was really a
good time. I like Betty's idea for biblical dishes. Dorie
