Hello Chris and Debbie:
It isn't clear to us why you have contacted the Alberta Family Histories Society which is geographically over 3000 miles west of Newfoundland.
We think you would be much better served by contacting the Family History Society of Newfoundland & Labrador at http://www.fhsnl.ca/
Failing that, if you google in 'newfoundland genealogy' you will find many other resources in that area of Canada. Good Luck

Subject: Can Someone Help please !
To: "chairman@..." <chairman@...>
I write from the UK and would enquire if someone can help or give me some guidance please.
I have recently ascertained that my Great Grandmother was born in St Johns, Newfoundland and I am keen to find out the date (and also the name of her mother if that is recorded). Her father (possibly named James) was a Master Mariner so she may have even been born at sea and registered when her father's ship landed.
All that I know is that her name was Mary Hannah Wright and that she was born in either 1839 or 1840.
Can someone within the AFHS help please ?
Thank you in anticipation - and apologies for any inconvenience caused by contacting you.
