Since interest in the new IDPF "EPub" e-book open standard appears to
be growing by leaps and bounds, I've started a new YahooGroup for
detailed discussions about EPub, called "EPub Community":
EPub Community is intended for publication creators, developers,
readers, and anyone else interested in all things related to EPub
and the IDPF specifications which underlie EPub (OPS/OPF/OCF).
Although the group's focus is likely to be fairly technical, we
certainly invite and encourage non-technical discussions.
(More generic discussions about e-books, and other non-EPub-related
discussions, should instead be directed to one of the sister groups:
Book Futures: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bookfutures/
The eBook Community: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ebook-community/
Digital Text Community: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/digital-text/
Two ways to subscribe to EPC:
1) With your YahooID -- click on the "Join this Group" button at the
group's homepage, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/epub-community/
2) Send a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Note that this group is independent and not affiliated with IDPF in
any manner. The co-founder (me) has been technically contributing to
IDPF's OEBPS/OPS/OPF/OCF open specifications since 1999, and in the
past served in leadership positions in the working group.
(Since I will be on travel/vacation the next 10 days, I've temporarily
turned off member posting. But you may subscribe now. Hopefully in a
few short days I will finalize the group's home page Description and
turn on member discussion. Anyway, discussion should not start until
we reach a critical mass of subscribers.)
Welcome to the EPub Community!
