I certainly don't mean to steal any thunder from the Crosstalk
list, but since detailed discussion of the James ossuary
inscription seems somewhat off-topic here, I thought I'd create
my own moderated list on Yahoo, Biblical Paleography. I really
hope that those who are interested in the paleographical
details of the James ossuary will come check it out.
I have several pictures of the James inscription and a few
close-ups of questionable letters in the inscription in the
Photos section. I also have laid out my own response to
Dr. Altman's challenges to the authenticity of the James
Inscription. If nothing else, I hope that my responses and
pictures will provoke more thought.
Biblical Paleography is also intended for general scholarly
discussion of inscriptions and written documents. Topics
could range from the specifics on writing in the Dead Sea
Scrolls to New Testament papyrii to various ancient inscriptions
like those from Beth She'arim. Bring up your favorite
