Night Out.Most of the small groups will be taking a short break over the holidays but please plan now to help us usher in the new year with our next Connections Forum on Tues. The January Forum will feature Steve Carlson, a local artist and photographer, whose photography exhibit "Transmissions" you might have seen on display during Pride Month at The Framer's Intent in Iowa City. Connections Spiritual Seekers will resume in JanuarySpiritual Seekers is a group for people of all faiths, or of little faith, who wish to make deeper connections between their sexual identities and the spiritual dimension in their lives. Spiritual Seekers typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30pm but will be taking a break over the holidays and resume in January. Our meetings include discussion of specialized topics, telling of pieces of our faith journeys, and occasional prayer and meditation. The 2nd Annual Governor’s Conference on LGBT Youth is designed to provide information, resources, and enhance public understanding about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth. It is open to the general public, but it will be most beneficial to those interested in the safety and well-being of LGBT youth including educators, policy makers, parents, and students. The workshops and keynote presentations at the Governor’s Conference on LGBT Youth will encompass a wide range of topics, including Gay Straight Alliances, Safe School Policies, Legal Issues, Health, Faith Communities, Changing School Climate, Gender Identity/Expression, and Anti-LGBT Discrimination in Schools. This year's keynote speakers will be Moisés Kaufmann, award-winning writer and director of Gross Indencency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde and The Laramie Project, and Brent Hartinger, author of many books for kids, teens, and adults, including GLBTQ-themed novels such as Geography Club.
