Updated! Connections Spiritual Seekers will resume in January
Spiritual Seekers is a group for people of all faiths, or of little
faith, who wish to make deeper connections between their sexual
identities and the spiritual dimension in their lives. Spiritual
Seekers typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30pm
but will be taking a break over the holidays and resume in January.
Our meetings include discussion of specialized topics, telling of
pieces of our faith journeys, and occasional prayer and meditation.

NEW! ICARE World AIDS Day event, tonight, Dec. 1st
ICARE invites everyone to the ICARE World AIDS Day event on Dec. 1
from 5pm to 7pm. It will be held at the Riverside Theatre at 213 N.
Gilbert in Iowa City. Admission is a FREE WILL DONATION at the door.
We will have refreshments, a Silent Auction (with a lot of really cool
stuff), and performances by the Quire, David Morton, and Elena
Passarello. All proceeds go to ICARE (the Iowa Center for AIDS

NEW! Making Our Schools Safe Forum in Oskaloosa, Mon. Dec.
4th. The harassment and bullying of gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) students will be the subject of a
free public forum hosted by the GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task
Force. The "Making Our Schools Safe for GLBT Students" forum
take place on Monday, December 4, at 7:00 PM at George Daley
Auditorium Board Room. The forum is one of several taking place
across the state, focusing on making schools safer for GLBT
students.The subject of the forum is timely as legislation to protect
all students from harassment and bullying in schools will be the
focus of debate in the Iowa Legislature in the upcoming session. The
legislation has the support of several statewide organizations.
Following the panel presentation, presenters will take questions from
the audience. In addition, a resource packet will be available to
the audience that includes resources for educators, parents,
religious leaders, civil rights community and the general public on
creating safer schools and environments for GLBT students. The forum

NEW! The Quire's Winter Concert, Sat. Dec. 9th
The Quire, Eastern Iowa's GLBT Chorus, presents their annual winter
concert Sat. Dec. 9th at 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 N.
Johnson St. in Iowa City. Admission is free. The group will perform
the orchestral version of Randall Thompson's Frostiana and Gustav
Holst's Christmas Day, as well as a variety of other delightful
settings for the season such as The Twelve Groovy Days of Christmas

Updated! Iowa City GLBT Pride Planning Committee, Sun. Dec. 17th
The Iowa City GLBT Pride Planning Committee invites you to come and
participate in the planning process for this next year's Pride
Celebration in June. We have met once and tentatively set the date
for our annual Pride march and rally for Saturday, June 16th. We
will be meeting monthly on Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm at the Iowa
City Public Library. The meetings are open to the public and we are
currently recruiting people to be active members on the committee.
Our next meeting will be on Sun. Dec. 17th, at 4:00pm in the Iowa

OWLS Monthly Potluck, Sat. Dec. 30th
All "older, wiser lesbians" are invited to join the local OWLS group
for their monthly Sat. night potlucks. There are no exact age
requirements - just that you identify as "older and wiser." The
next gathering will be held at 6pm on Sat. Dec. 30th at Katharine &
Laurie's place on the southeast side of Iowa City. Beverages and

Iowa City Proud Families Group, meets
Are you a parent? Or thinking about becoming one? You are invited to
join the Iowa City Proud Families group for their monthly potlucks
and other gatherings. Proud Families has been together as a group for
over 5 years and have members that are in the family planning stages,
up to children that are pre-teen. They get together once a month for
a pot-luck play date where they can let the kids play with their peer
group while the parents get to relax and chat. If you would like more

Pride Party when they rented a gym in Iowa City for kids to have fun,
trips to the zoo, apple orchard, and a camping trip that the kids love.
NEW! Governor's Conference on LGBT Youth, Thurs. Feb.
22nd SAVE THE DATE!!! The 2007 Governor's
Conference on LGBT Youth will be held on Thurs. February 22, 2007, at
Drake University, Des Moines. Adults $45 and students: $25.

NEW! Research Study for Lesbian, Bisexual, and Questioning Women
If you are a woman who is at least 18 years old and have experienced
same-sex attraction, you are invited to participate in a study by a
lesbian researcher, Dawn Szymanski, at the University of Tennessee.
The survey is anonymous, and takes about 30 minutes to complete. As
an incentive to participate, all participants will be given the
chance to enter a participant raffle awarding $100 each to three
randomly selected participants. For those interested in participating
in this study, click on the following hypertext link: http://

browser). This will take you to the consent form and questionnaire.
This research has been approved by the Institutional Review Board for
protection of human subjects at the University of Tennessee.
