Just a reminder that our next Connections Forum is tomorrow, Tues. Oct. 3rd at 7pm at hotelVetro (enter the glass doors across the Ped Mall from the Iowa City Public Library, and go up the stairs). This month's topic is "Religion Gone Bad: An Examination of Anti-LGBT Religious Ideology."
In anticipation of the upcoming Holy Relationships Midwest Regional Conference (Thurs. Oct. 19-Sat. Oct.21 in Iowa City), Rich McCarty will offer a presentation on Mel White's new book: "Religion Gone Bad: The Hidden Dangers of the Christian Right." Mel White was the former ghost-author of such figures as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, and will be offering the Sat. morning keynote address at the Holy Relationships Midwest Regional Conference. This forum will provide insights on the arguments and rhetoric of anti-LGBT religious groups, as well as provide constructive dialogue on how all people, whether belonging to faith traditions or not, can speak to these ideological systems, and do so in ways that engender the progression of social equality and liberty. (If you haven't yet registered for the Holy Relationsihps conference, it's not too late! There are student and group registration discounts as well as a specialized registration option for those of you who have scheduling conflicts. See details on the conference website.)
Some upcoming small group gatherings are highlighted below but don't forget to check out the latest updates and other community events on our website
(please remember to use our temporary URL of http://queerconnections.nfshost.com/
for now). (Thank you for your continued patience as we play the 'waiting game' in getting domain name rights transferred.)
