The GLBTAU at the University of Iowa invites you to come and celebrate the Year of the Dog! This Fri. Feb. 10th, there will be a rocking party... complete with egg rolls, fortune cookies, lanterns, traditional chinese activities, dancing and DRAG! The party begins at 9pm in the Wheelroom of the IMU. NEW! Governor's Conference on LGBT Youth, Tues. Feb. 21st
It's not too late to register for the Governor's Conference on LGBT Youth to be held Tues. Feb. 21st at Drake University, Des Moines. To enhance public understanding about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, Governor Vilsack and Lt. Governor Pederson have joined the GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force to present the Governor’s Conference on LGBT Youth on Tues. Feb. 21st at Drake University (Olmsted Center) in Des Moines. The conference is the first of its kind in the state of Iowa and is designed to explore multiple aspects affecting the safety and well-being of LGBT students in schools and communities throughout Iowa. The conference's keynote speakers will be: Judy Shepard, Executive Director of the Matthew Shepard Foundation; Kevin Jennings, Executive Director of GLSEN; and James Howe, author of The Misfits. The conference is $45 for adults and $25 for students (scholarships available).
