The Connections Board has been working hard at building our organization and constructing strong programs for next year. With that, I am happy to announce Bridget Malone as the new Vice President of Connections! Bridget has been a strong force in Connections as it's Small Groups Leader and has been the chair of Iowa City Pride. The newest Connections group is continuing tonight. Connections Inclusive Ballroom runs every Monday 7-9pm at Old Brick, 26 E. Market st. It is an open dance time for anyone in the LGBT or straight community. Bring your friends. The weekly event will cover various forms of dance and provide instruction to beginners. Sept. 1st OutLook Iowa City Launch Party- The launch of the magazine will be a fundraiser for Connections at the top of the Plaza Towers. Get an OutLook of Iowa City from the patio's of Marc and Bobby's Condo. It will be a celebration of Iowa City's magazine and the Diversity of our community. All folks in the broader Iowa City community are invited including advertisers, resource listings and those wanting to support the work of Connections. The event starts at 7pm and will have a requested donation of $20.
Sept. 4th 2nd annual Statwide Queer Fall Kickoff- Join us once again as we preview the Iowa LGBT community for the fall. The event is on the second floor of the Plaza Towers. The kickoff is like an Iowa Pride festival for the fall. Come enjoy music, lounge, food and check out what the community has to offer. The evening will feature booths for any interested organization. Last year we had 20 organizations and over 150 people. We will easily excede those numbers. This will also begin the distribution of OutLook Iowa City Magazine. The event will run from 7-9pm.
