CCD really seemed to be the way to go because of the full Moon. The DSLR's
pick up the glow from the Moon a lot easier. Plus I had cirrus clouds that
were being lit up by the Moon also.
Well the next chance for a semi-bright Near Earth Asteroid is
2007 DT103 on July 29th, at 9.1 LD and Absolute Magnitude of 19.6.
2006 VV2 was 8.8 LD and Absolute Magnitude of 16.7, so closer and
And guess what, it's a Full Moon the night of July 29th.
Next chance after that is
2005 WJ56 on January 10th, 2008, at 10.9 LD and Absolute Magnitude of 17.8
and the Moon is a Waxing Crescent at only 8% illumination.
2007 DT103 will be Mag. 14.5
2005 WJ56 will be Mag. 11.3
This and others are on my calendar at
best viewed with Month tab.
And Near Earth Asteroids / Comets tables are here
Next Up is Comet 96P/Machholz!
Thanks to this group, Don Machholz is going to be speaking at my astronomy
club on Tuesday.
