This note came to my CASA-ambassador
email. Anyone out there in Colorado CASA-land able to help Justin?
1) A young (male or mixed) group
focusing primarily on contemporary a cappella, and utilizing both vocal
percussion and 6-10 part arrangements. I saw postings on CASA's website for
groups of recently graduated working professionals who all sang contemporary a
cappella in college and just wanted to keep it going. That's exactly what I'm
looking for, but the problem is the groups were all in the San Francisco and New
York areas. Is there anything like this in Denver?
2) A semi-professional
group with a classical repertoire ranging from 14th C. Polyphony to
Contemporary. This is more along the lines of the Glee Club I sang with in
college, but I love this kind of choral singing as well. Mixed or Male would
work here as well.
Basically, I would just love to start singing again. I
am primarily a 2nd tenor, but I've also sung my share of 1st and have a strong
falsetto that allows me to sing counter-tenor if called for. Everyone is telling
me that I should start my own group if I can't find anything, but that's not as
easy as it sounds. I can read music and am talented musically, but not talented
enough to write/arrange music at the level of difficulty I'm used to performing
it. We had a very talented arranger/director in college, and I've never even
been able to arrange anything at all. I think my talents would be better
utilized in a group that already has a musical director and a repertoire. This
isn't exactly a role I can improvise if I tried to start my own
Anyway, if either of you could let me know about any openings or
opportunities you know of in the Denver/Boulder area, I'd really appreciate it.
Feel free to call me if you need any more information or clarification on my
Thanks so much for all your help,
