You're invited to a Brown Bag Lunch at noon, Wednesday, December 8, at the Mennonite Meeting House, 1236 NW 18th Avenue, Gainesville. Bring your own lunch; drinks will be provided. Ample parking is available at the Meeting House and adjacent bank parking lots.
Our speaker is John Sommerville, who will share his insights on "How the news make us dumb: the death of wisdom in an information society." John is Professor of English History, Emeritus, at the University of Florida and a member of the Advisory Board of the Christian Study Center of Gainesville.
The Brown Bag Lunch series is a monthly program of the Beltram Peace Center that provides an opportunity for the community to meet local activists, artists, and thinkers in a informal setting. Recent speakers include Jack Donovan, Pastor of Highlands Presbyerian Church and former Gainesville City Commissioner; Steve Kalishman, attorney and founder of Gainesville's Sister Cities Program.
