As a new and inexperianced member of this group
I was wondering if there was any books which dealt with the involvment of
irish men fighting on both sides of the conflict(to gain experiance for our
own fight for independence) i would be most interested in officers rather
than enlisted men
There are a number of books available on the Irish. One that comes to mind
immediately is Stonewall of the West: Patrick Cleburne and the Civil War by
Craig L. Symonds.
Here are some others, some dealing with the west, others with the east:
A Party of Mad Fellows: The Story of the Irish in the Army of the Potomac
Frank A. Boyle
An Irishman in Dixie: Thomas Conolly's Diary and the Fall of the
Rebel Sons of Erin by Ed Gleeson
The Irish Brigade and its Campaigns by David P. Conyngham
The Irish Brigade by John P. Jones
Thomas Francis Meagher: An Irish Revolutionary in America by Robert G.
Memoirs of Gen Thomas Francis Meagher
Cleburne and His Command by Irving A. Buck
