I hadn't checked in here for a while--nor had I played Civ3 for quite a
while. I have an iBook from work that I use as my primary computer, but
check computer ads from time to time with the idea of buying a new desktop
when Civ4 comes out. I see from the CivFanatics website that there is a
release date of November 15th (although they do not seem overly optimistic
in that regard!). Basically, I will be buying the cheapest new desktop,
possibly replacing the graphics card, and maxing out the RAM. They state
that the requirements are 256MB, but 512MB is recommended--this seems
totally insufficient unless you like to play on a small planet with few
rivals. WOW there's a ton of information here since I last visited...
Kit, I'm sure you would be interested in the additions made 5 days ago:

Well having spent over an hour reading up on it and checking out the forums
and whatnot, I am not too sure about the combat and I am even less sure
about the role of religion (but then again I got used to
culture)--especially missionaries, but it looks interesting. I may not buy
it straight away but wait until February or so... won't have money for a new
computer by November anyway.
