"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has
conceived what God has prepared for those who
love Him- but God has revealed it to us by His
Spirit." I Corinthians 2:9,10 NIV
I have been feeling better on my new pain meds.
Better enough to take my boy fishing. Now, all I
know of fishing is: put a worm on a hook, put
wormed hook in water and wait. No big deal right? I
have since learned that many variables have to be
just right for a fish to bite! I guess that is what
makes it a sport.
After sitting a while in my four-wheeled scooter,
watching minnows nibble at my bait, I decided to
take some photos. The weather was perfect, the sky
was in a display of gorgeous shades of blue, the
clouds appeared to be placed in the perfect spots
for a painting and it all made for some great shots.
After a few clicks of the shutter, I closed my eyes,
inhaled deeply and took in the sounds and aromas
around me. A soft breeze blew through the tree above
our heads, rustling the leaves. Gentle waves splashed
against the rocks at our feet, Canadian geese called
to one another as they came in for frequent landings.
The smell of my half-eaten Nectarine caught my nostrils
by surprise. And then, I opened my eyes; looked down
at the picture I had just taken and said, "How dull!"
The picture did not at all reflect the complete reality
of our surroundings!
And then the Holy Spirit spoke to me, "You think this
is grandeur? Heaven awaits you, Greg. No words are
able to describe it; no metaphor can adequately give
you an accurate picture of it. No more pain, no more
suffering. Finish the task I have given you to be a
fisher of men. Learn all you can about leading them
to Jesus and use the gifts I have given you to bring
them in. And then one day, you'll enjoy a splendor
beyond your wildest imagination!"
