situation in a number of Chechen districts where house of several
hundred people have been inundated.
“Over 130 rescuers and 37 machinery units have been sent to liquidate
the flooding aftermath and rescue people to 10 districts of the
republic, including the Oktyabrsky, Leninsky and Zavodskoy districts of
the capital Grozny. Rescue operations are carried out under the command
of Chechen Interior Minister Ruslan Avtayev,” the ministry spokesman
Akhmed Davliyev told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
According to him, 21 houses with 205 tenants are now in the inundation
area in the Voikovo, Kalinin and Vorovsky settlements in the Grozny suburb.
The Chechen government has formed a special group for the prevention and
liquidation of floods. According to specialists, floods are threatening
a number of northern and southern districts of the republic.
The situation is the worst in the Shelkovskoi district. Settlements of
the neighbouring Naursky district, as well as Kurchaloi, Nozhai-Yurt and
Shali districts are also threatened.

a result of long rains and intensive snow melting in the mountains in
the Grozny area.”
