In research I have done I found classifications of severity of
cerebral palsy regarding gross motor function for kids between 6 and
12. It looks like this:
Level 1 - Walks without restrictions, limitations in more advanced
gross motor skills.
Level 2 - Walks without devices, limitations in walking outdoors and
in the community.
Level 3 - Walks with mobility devices, limitations in walking
outdoors and in the community.
Level 4 - Self mobility with limitations, children are transported or
use power mobility outdoors and in the community.
Level 5 - Self mobility is severly limited even with the use of
I myself have not heard a doctor say this, however I have not spoken
to many that are specialists in CP. It just seems to me like a simple
was to describe Marissa's abilities without having to write a ton of
info (I have some severe time limitations as I'm sure most of you
have as well)
