I am the nuttiest Carcar genealogy nut in the whole world. I know there are many Carcaranons out there who have painstakingly assembled their family trees, or are in the process of building theirs. In the course of my two-year (week-ends) research for my own Carcar family trees (Aleonar, Barcelo, Alegado), I was also able to come across some information on other families as well that had interlinked with my own. I have filed many of them, for whatever use they may be in the future. These data are not that many, but the time has now come to share them.
For making the time right, I must properly credit Jeanelyn Zozobrado for sharing her love of the town with her townmates, and Carcaranons' extraordinary positive response to her efforts. When there were messages in her Carcaranon site of people searching for family links, that was the signal for me. The time for this group is right.
The history of our Carcar of course can be said to be of a town built on intermarriages of its families. Of course, in due time, with some help from migrants who came to our town and start their own life and family there--people from other towns in Cebu, Cebu City, Bohol and who knows where. If Carcar could just build its own Town Family Tree, we shouldn't be surprised that we are all related.
That being said: There must be something positive to gain from the knowledge that we are all related; that not only do we come from the same town, the same bloodlines run in our veins as well.
Regarding the aspirations of this forum, I will not be surprised if at first, there will be family tree builders who will be stingy with their data. I understand: they labored and spent their own money and precious time for it, and they wouldn't be too keen to just hand them out to some parasitic cousin. But sooner or later, everyone of us will realize that we can only build so much of our trees. There will always be other people out there--
parientes--who would provide great help to getting us to our goal.
I suppose that was how our town itself was built.
I don't know of any family in our town who are historically known to be jealous of keeping credit to themselves. Everyone of us know only too well that Carcar is the result of ALL our families' combined efforts. This site should prove me right.
