I personally like the chit-chat but I can see where it would be a high noise-to-information ratio for those who don't. Here is an idea: you (or anyone) could start a calendar within this email group by having it titled, say, Jeanette's Calendar. When a reader saw that on their list of email letters they would know it was only dates/times/directions/pertinent information. Anyone organizing an event would be responsible for getting their information to you; you would be responsible for updating the calendar.
I can imagine there are others out there who just want to cut to the chase - bringing up your dissatisfaction is a good way for us to try to serve different readers. Thanks.
