BMRT is an awesome (and free) RenderMan-compliant renderer. Whereas BMRT may not be known, first and foremost, for a slick GUI or ease of use, it remains one of the best programs of its type out there. BMRT deserves a list for people who like the results it gives but have questions -- no matter how advanced or how newby -- to seek advice, receive critiques on your work, critique and learn from the work of others, or share something great, including shaders. Especially with the addition of BMRT export and ease of use in Rhinoceros since version 1.1, K3d and possibly other programs, the global circle of friends using BMRT is bound to grow. The purpose of this list also is to see that growth realized, with BMRT thereby becoming much more used by the computer graphics community at large. Larry Gritz is the program's developer. He isn't seeking help at this time, so the list is not a forum for developers. RenderMan-compliant shaders, meanwhile, remain a challenge in themselves for the uninitiated. Programmer types who find themselves intrigued by Pixar's model for CG, are welcome here. Persons on the list who wish to create pretty pictures but aren't full-blooded programmer dudes could use the help of those for whom mathematics, trigonometry and computer code are food to be devoured.
