The Association of Balkan Statisticians (A.B.S), the International
Association of French Speaking Demographer (AIDELF), the Balkan Demographic

The International Conference will take place at the University of Sarajevo,
Faculty of Economics, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 10 May to 13 May 2000.
Workings of the Conference will be organised in five plenary sessions.
1. Opening Session : INTRODUCTION TO THE BALKANIC WORLD
Wednesday 10 May, 17h00 to 20h00
Following the welcoming speeches, the session will proceed with a general
overview of the region and enumeration of its specific features.
Experts in various subjects (statistics, geography, history, ethnology, and
geopolitics) specially invited by the organisers of the Conference shall
formulate the main topics to be dealt with by the Conference.
