A CONCERT FOR THE FEAST OF ALL SOULS
Join San Francisco Renaissance Voices (Todd Jolly, Director) and guest artist Dominic Schaner, lute and mandora, for their annual Halloween weekend concerts. This year's performance, "A Concert for the Feast of All Souls" features hauntingly beautiful music from the Franco-Flemish Renaissance including the Requiem (Office of the Dead) of Antoine Brumel (c1460-1520), one of the earliest surviving extant requiems and the first to include the Dies Irae; other featured music includes Josquin de Prez's memorial deploration for his beloved teacher Ockeghem, "Nymphes des bois," Guillaume Dufay's "Ave Regina Coelorum" that he wrote to be performed at his own funeral, and other music by Loyset Compere and Pierre De la Rue.
Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 pm, All Saints Episcopal Church, 555 Waverley Street, Palo Alto.
Sunday, November 2 at 8:00 pm, Seventh Avenue Performances, 1329 Seventh Avenue, San Francisco.
