Hey Everyone! For those of you who got the first e-mail
about this, read on for important info regarding a new Listserv!.
For those that are hearing about this for the first time, here's the
deal: we (people who hung out together at Goshen College in the
early 2000's) are no longer getting married very frequently, which
means we don't see each other often and are failing to regularly
experience all of the super-duper awesome fun times that i'm sure you
remember. So... Sophie and I have proposed a nice camping trip,
which we have dubbed The First Annual Awesome Labor Day Weekend of Fun,
in hopes of it becoming an annual event. So, don't sit around
missing your friends, bored and alone on yet another
Labor day weekend. Come camping for God's sake. All the laborers of the
world want you to do this.
So here's how it works:
1. Everybody is welcome. Please pass this on to whomever you think might be interested.
This will take place every year over labor day weekend. If you can't
make it this year, no sweat, put it on your calendar for next year.
We've tried to find someplace that looks fun and beautiful and is not
too far away for most people with cars and is near an airport for those
of us without. Here it is: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/raccooncreek.aspx
4. Arrive whenever you can (presumably Fri/Sat), leave when you need to (hopefully not before Monday).
Everybody pays for their own shit, including campsite/cabin, food,
booze, and everything else. I know it will be tough to let down on your
Mennonite instincts of community sharing, but it will be way easier if
everyone just looks after themselves for a bit.
6. Everybody has loads and loads of fun!
OK. Now this will be fun, no matter who shows up, but it will be
more fun if loads of people come. And more people will feel good
about coming if we are certain that a lot of people will be
there. The blog we created to drum up support kind of failed, so
here's a new plan: a Listserv! The way this works is:
1. If you have even a little interest in this, send an e-mail to
, and you will be subscribed.
2. Now, if you have questions or concerns, or need a ride, or
have a ride to offer, or wish to tell everyone how excited you are,
send a message to email@example.com
, and it will
conveniently go straight to everyone's inbox - no blog checking
3. Once a few people write to say how excited they are, then
maybe the rest of you will believe us that this is a good idea, and
will then write yourselves, and then even more people will get excited,
and it will have this great snowball effect and it will be totally
awesome. For reals. Do it!
