The Oneota village in this article was excavated yielding many fine
clues to how they lived and worked. The illustraions of the storage
pits were well done as the illustrations of the style of pottery made
by these people who became the Ioway, Winnegago, Sac-Fox people of
They never called themselves by this name and what they used cannot be
remembered by anyone living. They were called the old ones, or in
Sioux the town builders, or the ancient ones who lived here.
