Subject: [Dancing Bears] Thurs. & Fri. International Zydeco band in Anchorage
Please come out and support the Alaska Junior Theater's efforts to bring
world-class zydeco music to Anchorage. I have been working with them over
the past year to help bring these events to our music and dance lovers.
This Thursday, there will be a lecture on zydeco and creole music and dance,
followed by dancing to Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience Band on the
main stage of Atwood Hall at the PAC, followed by a potluck meal with the
band. It all starts at 6:30, and goes to whenever. Enter on the west end
of the PAC on the 5th Ave. side near the loading docks on G St.
The cost of this great event is only $5.00 for a chance to zydeco dance to
a grammy winning international band. Please help spread the word so that
this organization and others will bring up other groups of this caliber to
our fair city. They are really sticking their necks out on this event, so
please come out and show them that it is appreciated. Bring a dish to share
with everyone, including the band, and mingle with others during the
potluck. Also, think about clean dance shoes for the stage, given our
recent deposit of the white stuff on the ground. There will be several of
us there to assist with your zydeco, creole and Cajun dance moves, so don't
let that hold you back.
On Friday, Terrance and his band will be performing in a concert at the
Atwood Hall at 7:30. A few of us will be down on the street level prior to
the concert demonstrating zydeco dancing to pre-recorded music. I have been
told that dancing in the aisles will NOT be allowed at this event. I know,
it will be hard to resist. Fire codes and a shakey orchestra pit won't
allow it. Please respect that. Just come on out Thursday night to get your
dance groove on.
See ya there,
