Subject: Zieger's new project
Call for submissions
Bob Zieger has contracted with the University Press of Florida to edit a
collection of original essays on recent southern labor history. He is
soliciting proposals from scholars whose work involves the experiences
of working people in the American South for the period since 1950. The
volume and series editors are hoping to present a broad sampling of
recent scholarship, reflective of the work of both senior and
early-career scholars, including graduate students. The resulting book
is to be included in the Press's ongoing series "Working in the
Americas," edited by Tim Minchin and Richard Greenwald. Those
interested in participating in this venture are asked to submit a
300-word abstract, along with a short additional paragraph indicating
historiographical context and distinctive sources consulted. This
material should be submitted in Word or WordPerfect via Zieger's e-mail
address, which is Zieger@...
and should reach him by March 15, 2009.
Those papers to be included in the volume will then be selected and the
authors notified by April 1, with the papers themselves due on October
1. It is expected that the published essays will be about 7,000-10,000
words in length, exclusive of notes.
