Subject: FW: Ala Writers' Project Photographs collection now in ADAH Photo database
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
[ADAH has] finished scanning and database entry for all 1149 photos from the Ala. Writers' Project Photographs Collection, LPP1. This project began in May 2005, then was put on hold during the move and absence of student workers / interns. It was picked up again in February for a few weeks, and then went into high gear this fall with three student interns working on it (Andrew Armstrong, Jeff Lollar, and Brittany Justice). It still would not have gotten finished by now if Meredith hadn't scanned the last 696 photos while doing database entry on the Boykin digitization project, with the photo database entry completed by the interns and myself.
The photo database is here: http://www.archives.alabama.gov/internetphoto/photo_search.cfm Using Writers as the search word will bring up all the images, but it will take a while to load. Suggested keywords include: agriculture, bridge, building, college, university, education, school, cemeteries, church, African American, fishing, garden, home, industry, monuments, recreation, park, road, boat, dam, river. Place names include: Montgomery, Mobile, Birmingham, Huntsville, Eufaula, Clayton, Selma, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Sylacauga, Gadsden, Auburn, Marion, Monroeville, Baldwin County, Escambia County, DeKalb County, Marshall County, Tallapoosa County (not all-inclusive list, just what I can remember).
